Coach of the Week

Congratulations to last week's winner: Paul Brigman of Richard Winn Academy

Here are this week's nominations.

Chad Leaphart, Gilbert

The Class 3-A Indians posted a big 14-3 win over 5-A Lexington in a battle of unbeaten teams. It was the 71st win for Leaphart at his alma mater and stamps the Indians as a 3-A title contender.

Brian Rimpf, Camden

The Bulldogs outscored A.C. Flora 52-27 for the program's 700th win. Camden rallied from a 13-0 deficit to end a two-game losing skid.

Andy Palmer, Holly Hill Academy

Palmer, a longtime coach at his third school in Orangeburg County, oversaw the Raiders’ 37-22 win over Richard Winn Academy and its high-octane offense.

Page Wofford, Northwestern

The Trojans overpowered Gaffney 49-24 for their third straight win since opening the season with a close loss to nationally-ranked Providence Day.

Russell Blackston, Belton-Honea Path

The undefeated Bears are rolling along at 4-0. On Friday, they ran over Emerald 52-14 with their high-powered running attack.

Greg Mance, Loris

Mance made some adjustments after his Lions fell behind early to Conway. The unbeaten Lions responded and won 33-14. Loris rolled up 439 yards of offense and greatly limited Conway's attack after the first quarter.

Ian Rafferty, Summerville

How’s this for making a statement? The Green Wave, ranked No. 1 in 5-A, mowed down No. 6 Sumter 47-6 in a showdown that wasn't.

Aaron Brand, Irmo

Speaking of statement wins, check out this one. The Yellow Jackets went on the road and throttled Hartsville 35-14 in a possible 4-A playoff preview between two unbeaten teams. Irmo jumped ahead 28-7 in the first half and stayed in control.

Doug Marlowe, South Florence

Challenges keep getting thrown the unbeaten Bruins’ way and the reigning 4-A state champions keep meeting them. This time they rallied from a 13-0 deficit to down 4-A title contender South Pointe 22-19.

Jermaine Derricott, Hunter-Kinard-Tyler

The Trojans rolled over Williston-Elko 56-22 in a battle between unbeaten teams. Derricott has his team humming. The Trojans are 5-0 and 1-A title contender after going 6-6 in 2022.
