Vote: Who should be SBLive’s South Carolina Boys’ Basketball Player of the Week (12/11/2023)?
We have 10 athletes nominated this week for SBLive’s South Carolina Boys’ Player of the Week from Dec. 3-9 and we ask you, the fans, to help decide who should indeed be the top athlete selected. Voting will conclude on Saturday, Dec. 17 at 11:59 p.m. and the winner will be announced in next week’s poll.
Here are this week’s nominations:
Jayden Pretty, Ridge View
The senior forward scored 21 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in the Blazers’ 72-65 over Sunrise Christian of Kansas in The Bash Showcase. That earned him MVP honors.
Avery Ravenell, Orangeburg Prep
Ravenell scored 28 points in the Indians’ 75-57 win over Florence Christian. The 5-foot-11 sophomore guard also had 7 rebounds and 4 assists.
Evan Carter, Cardinal Newman
Carter scored 21 points as the Cardinals beat Terry Sanford (N.C.) 55-41 in the Southeast Invitational.
E.J. Crawford, Green Sea Floyds
Crawford scored 13 points to lead the Trojans in their 46-42 win over rival Aynor. The senior guard also scored 10 points in a 60-26 victory over Governor’s School of Science and Math. The Trojans (6-2) have already doubled their win total from last season.
Cam Scott, Lexington
The Texas commit poured in 26 points as the Wildcats overwhelmed Irmo 83-41.
Aiden Barefoot, Gilbert
Barefoot had a great all-around game with 11 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists in the Indians’ 71-39 win over Ridge Spring-Monetta.
Daniel Jeffries, Airport
Jefferies hit five 3-pointers and finished with 18 points as the Eagles edged Silver Bluff 62-59.
Stephen Quinn, Westminster Catawba
The 6-foot-2 senior guard posted a triple double with 16 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists as the Indians rolled over O’Neal School 81-21. Quinn also had 29 points in a 71-56 loss to Northside Christian (N.C.).
Brayden Hughes, Mullins
The sophomore center scored 17 points and corralled 14 rebounds as the Auctioneers rallied from 18 points down with five minutes left to beat Carolina Forest 61-60. Hughes got eight of his points in the final period.
Tristan Thompson, Wilson
Thompson scored 21 points and had 6 rebounds in the highly-ranked Tigers rolled past Darlington 66-42.
