Adam Holmes to step down as Gray Collegiate Academy’s head coach, AD
Adam Holmes is the only head football coach and athletic director Gray Collegiate Academy has ever had.
On Friday, Holmes informed families at the school that he will no longer be in either of the aforementioned capacities.
According to The State’s Lou Bezjak, the longtime lead man of the War Eagles would be stepping down from both of his roles.
“Over this break I have had time to sit back and reflect on my ten year journey here at Gray,” Holmes said in a statement. “I have put my heart and soul into this school to help make this athletic program what it is today. There have been many long hours and day over these ten years and now I think it’s time for me to step away as Athletic Director and Head Director Coach.”
Holmes (76-35 overall record) led Gray Collegiate Academy to the Class 2A state championship in 2021 and also made a return trip this season. The War Eagles ended up falling 35-28 against Oceanside.
The head coach led the War Eagles to six region championships and two state title game appearances.
