We have 10 players nominated this week for SBLive’s South Carolina Girls Basketball Player of the Week from Feb. 26-March 2 and we ask you, the fans, to help decide who should indeed be the top athlete selected. Voting will conclude on Sunday, March 9 at 11:59 p.m. and the winner will be announced in next week’s poll.

Here are this week's nominees:

Tamia Watkins, Andrew Jackson

The 6-foot-1 junior forward/guard put on a dominating performance as the Volunteers rolled past Landrum 78-60 to win the 2-A state championship. Watkins had 26 points, 19 rebounds and 5 assists.

Jaleya Ford, Lake View

Ford had 21 points, 5 rebounds, 4 steals and 5 blocked shots as the Wild Gators held off Denmark-Olar 49-46 to win the 1-A state championship. The 5-foot-6 senior got a steal and hit the game-tying shot with 1:03 left and put Lake View ahead to stay on a layup with 29 seconds remaining.

Joyce Edwards, Camden

The South Carolina signee had one last game to play in her high school career and it was a dandy. Edwards scored 27 points – 61 percent of her team’s total – and grabbed 20 rebounds as the Bulldogs pounded Wren 44-22 to win the 3-A state championship, their second in a row. She also blocked 6 shots and had 3 steals.

Rickell Brown, Sumter

Brown had a superb game as the undefeated Gamecocks whipped Rock Hill 60-42 to win the 5-A state championship. The senior guard scored 20 points, including a perfect 9-of-9 from the free throw line.

Elly Trickett, Riverside

Trickett was a force inside with 16 points and 16 rebounds in Riverside’s 62-32 romp over A.C. Flora in the 4-A state championship game.

Araina Ross, Sumter

Ross is just an eighth grader – and one of the best players on a great team. The 5-foot-7 forward had 17 points and 7 rebounds in the state championship game.

Ayona Alexander, Andrew Jackson

Alexander, a sophomore forward, had 20 points and 8 rebounds in the state championship game.

Aveion Walker, Denmark-Olar

The 5-foot-8 junior had 24 points and 14 rebounds in the state championship game.

Kyndal Haroski, Riverside

Haroski had 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals in the state championship game.

Gwendasia Page, Lake View

Page had 14 points, 8 points, 3 assists, and 5 steals in the state championship.
