Week 5 of the 2024 South Dakota high school football season is here and High School on SI has unveiled its first computer rankings of the season as a full Friday night game slate awaits.

The Lincoln Patriots hold the top spot in this week's 11AAA computer rankings with Brandon Valley and Harrisburg trailing not far behind at second and third. Follow these unbeaten teams this week on our South Dakota football scoreboard as they look to separate themselves from the pack.

SBLive's formula was created using its linear algebra-based ranking algorithm inspired by the Colley Bias-Free Ranking Method. Colley’s Method was created by Wes Colley, Ph.D., an astrophysicist at the University of Alabama at Huntsville. He devised his algorithm to help address the subjectivity and controversy regarding BCS college football selections in the 1990s and early 2000s, using a method that used no subjective variables.
