Congratulations to Gregory-Portlandwide receiver David Karl for being voted SBLive’s Texas High School Athlete of the Week for Nov. 22-28!

The senior caught eight passes for 209 yards and a receiving score in a 47-44 shootout loss to District 15-5A DI rival Corpus Christi Flour Bluff on Friday.

Karl received 41.16% of the vote, beating out Fort Bend Hightower RB Jeremy Payne who finished second with 32.27%. Lago Vista WR Ethan Helton finished third with 14.22% and Corpus Christi Flour Bluff QB Nash Villegas finished fourth with 5.08%. There were over 33,000 votes tallied this week!

Cade Klubnik, Austin Westlake QB

Klubnik threw for 303 yards and five touchdowns on 13-of-16 passing during just the first half of Westlake’s dominant 56-0 win against PSJA North on Friday.

Kelvin Jennings, South Oak Cliff QB

In Friday’s game against defending 5A DII state champion Aledo, Jennings was 10-of-18 passing for 170 yards and two TD throws and also ran for 42 yards and a rushing touchdown on seven carries in a 33-28 win.

Nash Villegas, Corpus Christi Flour Bluff QB

Villegas threw for 311 yards and two TDs on 13-of-29 passing and also ran for 41 yards and a rushing touchdown on 15 carries to help Flour Bluff avenge a District 15-5A DI loss by beating Gregory-Portland 47-44.

Oscar Gordon, Austin LBJ QB

Gordon threw for 303 yards and six touchdowns on 16-of-20 passing in a 68-24 blowout win against Boerne. He also ran six times for 19 yards.

Ashton Dubose, San Antonio Brennan QB

Friday’s game against Austin Bowie saw Dubose complete 16 of 26 passes for 319 yards and six touchdowns in a 59-36 victory. He also ran for 78 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries to help Brennan become the last San Antonio-area team standing in the 6A playoffs.

Bert Emmanuel Jr, Fort Bend Ridge Point QB

Emmanuel threw for 331 yards and two touchdowns on 21-of-34 passing and also ran 19 times for 66 yards and a rushing score, accounting for all three of Ridge Point’s TDs in a 24-21 loss to Humble Atascocita.

Chad Ragle, Midlothian QB

In Friday’s game against Mansfield Summit, Ragle went 12-of-23 passing for 135 yards and a passing touchdown in a 28-20 loss. He also ran 18 times for 144 yards and a rushing score.

Harrison Rosar, Prosper QB

Rosar completed 14 of 18 passes for 300 yards and four TDs in a 53-6 win over El Paso Eastwood on Saturday.

Jackson Arnold, Denton Guyer QB

Arnold went 17-of-23 for 304 yards and two passing TDs in a 43-36 victory over Trophy Club Byron Nelson on Saturday.

Mason Shorb, Leander Rouse QB

In Friday’s game against Liberty Hill, Shorb accounted for all five of Leander’s scores and was 24-of-33 passing for 474 yards and five touchdowns in a 56-33 loss.

Kelan Brown, Refugio QB

Brown was 11-of-18 passing for 217 yards and five TDs in a 54-7 win over Ganado to help Refugio remain undefeated.

Aiden Hinojosa, Corpus Christi Veterans QB

Hinojosa completed 14 of 21 passes for 323 yards and four TDs in a 35-0 win over McAllen Memorial on Saturday.

Brayden Buchanan, Austin Vandegrift QB

Buchanan threw for 270 yards and five touchdowns on 12-of-26 passing in a 38-14 win against previously unbeaten Edinburg Vela.

Andrew Paul, Dallas Parish Episcopal RB

Paul ran for 439 yards and six rushing TDs, both career highs, on 33 carries in a 55-13 win over Dallas Bishop Lynch to help Dallas Parish Episcopal advance to the TAPPS Division I state semifinals.

Braylon Colgrove, Aubrey RB

Colgrove carried the ball 16 times for 155 yards and four rushing touchdowns in a 42-7 win over Monahans.

Cale Hellums, Tomball QB

Hellums ran 38 times for 311 yards and three rushing TDs in a 35-21 win against Rockwall Heath on Friday to help Tomball advance to Round 4 of the Texas high school football playoffs for the first time since 1985. (Hellums pictured in featured photo above by Andrew McCulloch)

Marquise Collins, College Station RB

Collins rushed for 235 yards and three TDs on 32 carries to help College Station remain undefeated by beating Frisco Wakeland 45-35 on Friday.

DJ Johnson, Lake Travis RB

Johnson ran for 204 yards and three rushing scores on 10 carries in Lake Travis’ 35-19 win against Laredo United South.

Wyatt Young, Katy Tompkins RB

Young toted the ball 12 times for 131 yards and three rushing TDs in a 26-20 loss to Galena Park North Shore.

Sammy Steffe, Aledo RB

In a 33-26 loss to South Oak Cliff, Steffe rushed 32 times for 197 yards and two touchdown runs.

Rueben Owens, El Campo RB

Owens ran for 204 yards and three rushing TDs on 29 carries in El Campo’s 24-21 loss to Little Cypress-Mauriceville on Friday to take over as the state’s leader in rushing yards (2,989) for the 2021 season.

Jacob Brown, Katy Paetow RB

Brown rushed 14 times for 241 yards and four rushing TDs in Paetow’s 49-28 win over Cedar Park on Friday.

Jeremy Payne, Fort Bend Hightower RB

Payne toted the ball 25 times for 224 yards and a touchdown to help Hightower beat District 10-5A DI rival Manvel for the second time this season in a 31-21 victory.

Judge Thomason, Lubbock Cooper RB

Thomason rushed for 196 yards and two TDs on 22 carries in a 27-7 win against Grapevine.

Cyrin Myles, Crosby RB

Myles rushed for 122 yards and three touchdowns on 25 carries in a 53-50 victory against College Station A&M Consolidated on Friday.

Ryver Rodriguez, Midland Christian QB

Rodriguez scrambled 30 times for 204 yards and four rushing TDs in a 41-14 victory against San Antonio Central Catholic in the TAPPS Division I playoffs. He also threw for 109 yards on 9-of-16 passing.

Tycen Williams, Cuero RB

Williams ran the ball 25 times for 164 yards and two touchdowns in a 36-26 win over Wimberley for the second time this season.

Torrie Curry, Humble Summer Creek RB

Curry ran 18 times for 156 yards and five rushing TDs in Summer Creek’ 62-41 win against Katy Cinco Ranch on Saturday.

Jarvis Reed, Mansfield Timberview RB

Reed carried the ball 31 times for 164 yards and two touchdowns in Timberview’s 24-20 loss to Lucas-Lovejoy.

Jalil Brown, Dallas Christian RB

Brown rushed 22 times for 213 yards and two touchdowns on the ground in a 24-14 victory against Fort Worth Southwest Christian in the TAPPS Division II playoffs.

Mackenzie McGill, Mount Vernon RB/WR

McGill tallied 137 yards and three rushing TDs on 20 carries and snagged four catches for 93 yards and a receiving touchdown in Mount Vernon’s 40-14 win over Gladewater on Friday night.

Creighton Killian, Wellington QB

Killian ran for 119 yards and three touchdowns on 24 carries in Wellington’s 36-8 victory over Gruver. He completed 10 of 14 pass attempts for 107 yards through the air too.

Kutter Wilson, Brock RB

Wilson ran for 297 yards and five rushing TDs in Brock’s 70-26 blowout victory against reigning 3A DI state champion Tuscola Jim Ned.

Braylon Stewart, Texarkana Texas High RB

In a 44-21 victory against Port Neches-Groves to help Texas High stay undefeated, Stewart ran for 190 yards and three rushing TDs on 14 carries.

Joe Pitchford, Liberty Hill RB

Pitchford ran for 215 yards and two rushing TDs and threw a 49-yard touchdown pass on a fake punt in Liberty Hill’s 56-33 win against Leander Rouse.

Rene Galvan, Sinton QB

Galvan rushed 21 times for 146 yards and three rushing touchdowns in Sinton’s 29-28 overtime loss to Geronimo Navarro. He also threw for 68 yards and a touchdown on 6-of-11 passing.

Elijah Gales, West Orange-Stark RB

Gales ran for 178 yards and two rushing TDs in a 36-16 win against Bellville on Friday night.

Amarion Peterson, Wichita Falls Hirschi RB

Peterson ran for 197 yards and three rushing scores on 19 carries in Hirschi’s 41-22 win over Dumas.

Cody Rinne, Stratford QB

Rinne ran for 186 yards and four rushing TDs on 13 carries in a 56-21 win over Wink. He also threw for 198 yards and two scores on 5-of-8 passing.

Nicholas Anderson, Katy WR

Anderson hauled in eight catches for 97 yards and a touchdown in Katy’s 41-24 win over Houston C.E. King.

Jhalyn Bailey, Galena Park North Shore WR

Bailey caught three passes for 54 yards and a pair of receiving TDs in a 26-20 win over Katy Tompkins on Friday.

Austin Jordan, Denton Ryan WR

Jordan tallied four catches for 108 yards and two receiving TDs in a 37-33 victory against Longview, Ryan’s second win against the Lobos this season.

Jayden Palacios, Pleasanton WR

Palacios snagged seven receptions for 175 yards and a touchdown in Pleasanton’s 28-20 loss to Fredericksburg.

Ethan Helton, Lago Vista WR

Helton recorded six receptions for 117 yards and a touchdown in a 34-0 win against Corpus Christi London on Friday.

Mike Murphy, DeSoto WR

Murphy recorded five receptions for 128 yards and two touchdowns in a 34-17 win against previously unbeaten Spring Westfield on Saturday.

Lebron Johnson, Cuero WR

Johnson caught five passes for 136 receiving yards and a touchdown in Cuero’s 36-26 victory over Wimberley.

Jalen Hale, Longview WR

Hale caught six receptions for 136 yards and two touchdowns in a 37-33 loss to defending 5A DI state champion Denton Ryan.

Cash Peters, San Antonio Brennan WR

Peters hauled in nine passes for 175 yards and two touchdowns in a 59-36 win against Austin Bowie.

Tyler Wright, College Station A&M Consolidated WR

Wright tallied five catches for 148 yards and two receiving TDs in a 53-50 loss to Crosby.

Johntay Cook II, DeSoto WR

Cook snagged three catches for 102 yards and two receiving TDs to help DeSoto knock off Spring Westfield 34-17.

Jordyn Tyson, Allen WR

Tyson caught five passes for 126 receiving yards and a touchdown in Allen’s 59-21 win over Euless Trinity.

RJ Maryland, Southlake Carroll WR/TE

Maryland recorded five receptions for 101 yards and two touchdowns in Carroll’s 52-0 victory against Lewisville on Saturday.

Troy Oliver, Leander Rouse WR

Oliver tallied nine catches for a career-high 197 yards and two receiving TDs in a 53-36 loss to Liberty Hill.

Jadon Porter, Lorena WR

Porter caught seven passes for 209 receiving yards and three touchdowns in Lorena’s 63-21 win over Columbus.
