Kenzie Jones pitches gem to lead Crawford over Lovelady in Texas UIL 2A Softball State Championship
AUSTIN, Texas — Crawford fought its way back to the Class 2A UIL Softball State Tournament for the sixth time in 11 years behind the strength of one of the deepest lineups in Texas high school softball.
But despite owning a prolific offense and a talented crop of underclassmen, the Pirates leaned on their veteran savvy Wednesday night and slammed the door shut with lights-out pitching.
Senior pitcher Kenzie Jones, the Pirates’ workhorse in the circle, shut down Lovelady by throwing a complete game shutout to propel her team to a 3-0 victory in the 2A state championship game at Red & Charline McCombs Field.
