Dallas Parish Episcopal steamrolls San Antonio Cornerstone Christian
By Chuck Cox
SAN ANTONIO - Dallas Parish Episcopal added another victory to its impressive non-district record by cruising to a 42-6 victory over San Antonio Cornerstone Christian on Friday night at Warrior Field.
Sophomore quarterback Sawyer Anderson threw three touchdowns - including two to Cedric Mays - and rushed for another to lead the Panther offense. Running back Maddux Reid, a Southlake Carroll transfer, also rushed for two touchdowns for Parish Episcopal (6-1).
Parish has played one of the toughest non-district slates at any level with games against Aledo, South Oak Cliff, Austin LBJ and China Spring.
After taking an early 7-0 lead in the first quarter, the Panthers put the game away by scoring touchdowns on five straight possessions following an Anderson interception. Parish Episcopal led, 35-0, at halftime.
Cornerstone Christian (1-7) avoided the shutout with a 1-yard touchdown run by Joshua Cervantes at the end of the third quarter after the Warriors fell behind 42-0.
The Panthers return to TAPPS Division I District 1 play with a home game against Fort Worth Nolan on Oct. 21. Meanwhile, the Warriors are off next week before hosting Impact Christian Academy, out of Jacksonville, Florida, on Oct. 28.
Parish Episcopal is the three-time defending TAPPS Division I state champions.
