Emma Romanczyk propels CC Incarnate Word past Cypress Christian in TAPPS 4A girls basketball playoffs
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Corpus Christi Incarnate Word Academy Lady Angels relied on their sharp shooting to kick off the postseason on the right foot, using a hot night offensively to beat the Cypress Christian Warriors 50-38 in the first round of the TAPPS 4A girls basketball playoffs on Tuesday night.
IWA connected on five 3-pointers throughout the night, giving the Lady Angels a decisive edge from deep.
Incarnate Word was led offensively by junior power forward Emma Romanczyk, who tallied a game-high 17 points.
Two other Lady Angels also reached double figures in scoring, as senior point guard Katlyn McCall and junior shooting guard Lily Brown each finished the contest with 10 points.
Junior center Addison McClain led Cypress Christian in scoring with 14 points, while junior Sarah Olenick tallied 10 points and sophomore Nicole Santos added eight points.
Corpus Christi IWA (23-15) advances to the area round of the TAPPS 4A girls basketball playoffs, where the Angels will take on the Bay Area Christian Broncos (13-8) at a to-be-determined time and location on Friday, Feb. 18.
