ALLEN, Texas — Montgomery Lake Creek started an Allen ISD softball tournament doubleheader hot on Thursday night.
The defending 5A UIL state champions pushed their Texas state record win streak to 50 games with a 14-3 run-rule win over Prosper. The Lions defeated Allen in the second game to push the team's win streak to 51 games.
Lake Creek drove in the game's first three runs, but the Eagles responded with a three-run first inning of their own to tie the game at 3-3 in the first. After a scoreless second inning, Lake Creek retook the lead with a five-run third inning.

Florida commit Ava Brown started the scoring with a single to right-center field in the first inning of the game that allowed Carmen Uribe to score. Alyson Higginbotham drove in Brown in the next at-bat for the Lions.
Brown accounted for one of the runs thanks again to Higginbotham. After taking an 8-3 lead, the Lions shut Prosper down defensively for the rest of the game. Brown scored yet again in the fourth inning on an error by the Prosper second baseman.
In the fifth inning, Brown finished her game at the plate by hitting a two-run single to make the score 13-3 and put Lake Creek in position for the run-rule. One more RBI from Higginbotham brought the game to the final score of 14-3.
