Texas UIL state track and field meet: Every 2A, 5A high school champion, medalist

The Refugio boys reinforced their label as the winningest track and field program in Texas state high school history. 

Refugio won its 12th state boys title on Friday, closing out the 2A team championship at the 2A/5A UIL state meet at University of Texas in Austin. The Refugio girls shared the 2A girls title three ways with Stamford and Panhandle. 

Fort Bend Marshall won its sixth 5A boys title in program history and Comal Smithson Valley became a first-time 5A girls state champion.

The second day of the Texas high school state track and field largely avoided weather delays and champions were crowned throughout the day Friday.

The state track meet began Thursday with 3A/4A and featured record-breaking performances, headlined by a dominant showing from sophomore Taylor Nunez and 3A team champion University City Randolph. 

The state meet finishes Saturday with the 1A and 6A championships.
