ROUND ROCK, Texas —Pearland's bats got going and didn't look back as it punched its ticket to the Texas (UIL) 6A state championship game.
The Oilers put up four runs in the third and blew the game open in the fifth inning en route to an 11-1 win over Austin Westlake in the semifinals on Friday at Dell Diamond in Round Rock.

Austin Westlake (40-5) wraps up its 2023 campaign following the loss, which ends the Chaparrals' season during their first trip to the UIL Baseball State Tournament in 14 years.
Pearland (38-6-1), meanwhile, improves to 11-1 this postseason with the victory during the Oilers' first state tournament appearance since 2014.
The Oilers will play for their first state title since 1980 when Pearland faces the Flower Mound Jaguars (36-10-2) in the Class 6A UIL Baseball State Championship game at 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 10th, at Dell Diamond in Round Rock.
