Flower Mound's Sam Erickson on Texas (UIL) 6A baseball title: 'We really just pulled together as a family'

Junior Texas A&M commit hits two-run homer in sixth to help stave off Pearland

Texas A&M commit Sam Erickson blasted a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to give Flower Mound the insurance it needed.

The Jaguars held on to win the Texas (UIL) 6A state baseball championship, beating Pearland 6-4 on Saturday at Dell Diamond in Round Rock.

"We faced 90 from the left side two days in a row now ... we've been seeing it all playoffs and we knew it was just another day," Erickson, a junior, said. "We kept doing what we do."

Erickson said he found his strength and "calm" at the plate from his faith and the Jaguars' schedule to propel his team to season's biggest stage.

"We were more prepared than anyone here," Erickson said.
