Ava Brown wins another Texas Gatorade high school softball Player of the Year award

Florida signee was 27-0 in circle; led Montgomery Lake Creek to Class 5A title

Make some more room in your trophy case, Ava Brown.

The Florida commit, who is one of the nation's top high school softball players, was named Gatorade Softball Player of the Year in the state of Texas for 2022-23 Monday morning after leading Montgomery Lake Creek, the nation's best team, to a UIL Class 5A state softball championship.

As a pitcher, the 5-foot-7 senior posted a 0.53 ERA and struck out 292 batters in 172 innings to wrap up a dominant high school career. She was 81-0 with 830 strikeouts in her four years of high school.

As a hitter, she hit .462 with nine home runs, 17 doubles, 65 RBI and a .888 slugging percentage.

It's no surprise Brown repeated as the award-winner in Texas. She's the No. 3 prospect in the nation according to Extra Innings and her Lake Creek Lions, who went 44-1, were the nation's top-ranked high school softball team in the SBLive Power 25.

She's also contention for Gatorade National Softball Player of the Year honors, which are expected to be announced this week.
