Each week throughout the season, SBLive is taking a look at the top high school football performers across the Lone Star State. We gathered the best of the best, separated offense from defense, and now it’s your turn to cast your vote on a winner.

TEXAS DEFENSIVE HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL NOMINEES
Matthew Carrillo, sr., Alice
Carrillo had a 54-yard interception return and a forced fumble in a 40-14 victory over Tuloso-Midway.
Da’Cameron Ford, jr., Westfield
Ford returned an interception 75 yards for a touchdown in a 42-28 victory over Nimitz. It was one of four interceptions and six total takeaways for the Westfield defense.
Mikah Gonzales, jr., New Braunfels
Gonzales tallied 16 total tackles and two quarterback hurries in a 27-14 loss to Steele.
Rickey Green, sr., Texas City
Green had a 95-yard pick-six and a late fumble recovery that helped seal Texas City’s 15-7 win over Fort Bend Marshall.
Adam Hill, sr., Albany
Hill recorded two sacks, four quarterback hurries and eight total tackles in a 41-0 shutout of Miles.
Alex January, sr., Duncanville
January, a four-star Texas commit, had a pair of first-half sacks as Duncanville routed Waxahachie, 44-10.
Brody Johnson, sr., Redwater
Johnson picked off two passes in Redwater’s 32-16 win over Pattonville Prairiland.
Sam Mattingly, sr., Magnolia West
Mattingly had 17 total tackles in a 44-14 loss to Magnolia. The senior is committed to Stanford.
CJ Miller, sr., Anna
Miller notched 20 total tackles (two for loss) as Anna blanked Mabank, 35-0.
Brendon Ross, sr., Rockwall
Ross had 13 tackles in a 63-37 rout of Royse City.
