Westlake and Dripping Springs are currently tied atop the Texas UIL Class 6A - Region 4 - District 26 standings, but something will have to give when the two face off Friday night in Austin.
Currently ranked No. 20 in the national high school football rankings and No. 4 in the Texas high school football rankings, Westlake rode a 54-game winning streak into last year's 6A DI semifinals where they lost to eventual state champion North Shore.

Westlake (6-0, 4-0 6A-R4-D26)
After having the longest active win streak in the nation snapped by North Shore last season, the Chaparrals have responded by shutting out three of their opponents while racking up 287 points through their first six games this year.
With an electric offense anchored by seniors Tyler Knape (OL), Jack Kayser (RB), and Heath McRee (WR), and a strong defense, Westlake has an average margin of victory of nearly 40 points so far in 2023.
Dripping Springs (5-1, 4-0)
Outside of their lone loss to Vandergrift (No. 6 in the Texas football rankings) to begin the season, the Tigers haven't allowed more than 14 points to any of their opponents this year.
If they can keep up their stellar defensive play, they may have a shot at knocking off a Westlake team that beat them 29-10 when they two met last season.
