Austin Westlake beats San Antonio Reagan: Live Texas high school football updates recap (11/17/2023)

Nationally ranked Austin Westlake has perhaps its stiffest test of the season in the area round of the UIL Class 6A Division I Texas high school football playoffs. 

The Chaparrals (12-0) dealt Reagan (11-1) its first and last loss of the 2023 season, 45-28, in a showdown of the top team in Austin versus the best in San Antonio on Friday night in Seguin.

Westlake entered the game as the No. 19 team in the country and No. 4 in Texas, while Reagan is No. 13 in SBLive's Texas Power 25.

The Chaparrals advance to the regional semifinals, where they takes on the winner of Laredo United-San Benito, which takes place at 1 p.m. Saturday

FOURTH QUARTER

THIRD QUARTER

-- Denim Collins hauls in an interception. Westlake takes back over and scores on a Jack Kayser one-yard touchdown — a play set up by a Reed Wise 33-yard pass to Reagan Street inside the Rattler 10. (38-14, Westlake | 2:40)

SECOND QUARTER
