North Shore defeats Westlake: Live Texas high school football state semifinal updates recap

North Shore holds off Westlake in clash of UIL Class 6A Division I titans

North Shore and Westlake are paired in the Texas high school football playoffs on Saturday, with a berth to next week's UIL state championship in Arlington on the line. 

The Class 6A Division I semifinal pits two nationally ranked opponents against one another. Kickoff was at 3 p.m. (CT) and the game is being played at The Pfield in Pflugerville.

The winner's reward? A trip to AT&T Stadim and a 6A Division I title matchup next Saturday with the winner of North Crowley and nationally ranked Duncanville.

FOURTH QUARTER

THIRD QUARTER

-- The Chaparrals hold North Shore to a field goal. Jonathan Soto sends a 26-yard kick through the uprights to give the Mustangs the lead mid-third quarter. (17-14, North Shore | 6:08)

-- Westlake ties it up. On the first play from scrimmage in teh third quarter, star running back Jack Kayser breaks loose for a 45-yard touchdown run. PAT good. (14-14 | 11:44)

SECOND QUARTER

-- Westlake blocks a 41-yard North Shore field goal attempt in the final moments of the first half. Could that provide some momentum headed into half?

-- D'Andre Hardeman caps a productive Mustang drive with a nine-yard TD. (14-7, North Shore | 2:30)

-- North Shore gets on the board. On 4th and goal, Kaleb Bailey rushes in a one-yard TD and the PAT knots the score at seven apiece. (7-7 | 6:36)
