Each week throughout the season, SBLive is taking a look at the top high school football performers across the Lone Star State. We gathered the best of the best, separated offense from defense, and now it’s your turn to cast your vote on a winner.

TEXAS DEFENSIVE HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL NOMINEES
Jarvon Coles, sr., North Shore
Coles intercepted two passes and helped lead a smothering North Shore defense that allowed just 114 total yards in a 23-14 win over Austin Westlake.
Mykah Easley, jr., Gilmer
Easley picked off a pair of passes and had five tackles as Gilmer routed Glen Rose, 79-42.
Luke Marshall, sr., Albany
Marshall had 11 tackles as Albany downed Sunray, 34-14.
Cooper Massey, sr., Brock
Massey piled up 18 tackles in a 38-31 loss to Malakoff.
CJ Miller, sr., Anna
Miller had 12 tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery in Anna’s 38-27 win over Decatur.
DD Murray, jr., Bellville
Murray notched a key interception as Bellville held on against Wimberly, 35-33. The junior also ran for 97 yards and two touchdowns.
Drake Owens, jr., Tolar
Owens picked off a pass and finished with a team-high 14 tackles in a 35-7 victory over Stratford.
Max Scroggs, sr., Port Neches-Groves
Scroggs piled up 14 tackles and a fumble recovery as Port Neches-Groves downed Liberty Hill, 42-35.
Jayden Shelton, jr., South Oak Cliff
Shelton had a 23-yard pick-six in South Oak Cliff’s 36-24 win over Frisco Emerson.
Monte Swaner, sr., Mart
Swaner recorded five total tackles (three for loss), a sack and two quarterback hurries as Mart got past Chilton, 38-24.
