Look: Malakoff edges Franklin to claim Texas 3A Division 1 state football championship
Quarterback Mike Jones connected twice on touchdown passes to receiver Chauncey Hogg to lift Malakoff to a 14-7 victory over Franklin on Thursday afternoon in the Texas (UIL) 3A Division 1 state football championship game at AT&T Stadium.
Jones threw scoring passes to Hogg covering 32 yards in the first quarter and 42 yards in the third. Jones completed 10-of-14 passes for 140 yards and had 103 yards rushing on 21 carries.
Hogg finished with a game-high 108 yards receiving on seven receptions for the Tigers (16-0).
Jayden Jackson had a game-high 117 yards rushing on 27 carries and scored on a 5-yard run for the Lions (14-2).
