Look: Aledo routs Smithson Valley to win Texas 5A Division 1 state football championship
ARLINGTON, TEXAS — Hauss Hejny and Hawk Patrick-Daniels accounted for six touchdowns to lead Aledo to a 51-8 rout over Smithson Valley on Friday night in the Texas (UIL) 5A Division 1 state football championship game at AT&T Stadium.
Patrick-Daniels rushed for a game-high 186 yards on 16 carries and scored on runs of 23, 7 and 51 yards. Hejny threw for a game-high 202 yards including touchdown passes covering 69 yards to Kaydon Finley and 29 yards to Colton McCoy. Hejny also scored on a 10-yard run.
The Rangers (14-2) jumped out to an early 8-0 first-quarter lead following a safety and two field goals by Clayton Amaya. Aledo then proceeded to score 51 unanswered points.
It marked the second consecutive state football title for the Bearcats (16-0) and a UIL record 12th championship in program history.
