Look: DeSoto routs Summer Creek to win Texas 6A Division 2 state football championship
ARLINGTON, TEXAS — Quarterback Darius Bailey accounted for five touchdowns to lead DeSoto to a 74-14 rout over Summer Creek on Saturday night in the Texas (UIL) 6A Division 2 state football championship game at AT&T Stadium.
Bailey completed 16-of-22 passes for a game-high 281 yards and four touchdowns. Bailey, who also scored on a 1-yard run, connected with receiver Daylon Singleton on three touchdown passes covering 26, 55 and 52 yards.
Singleton finished with five receptions for a game-high 136 yards receiving.
Marvin Duffey had a game-high 151 yards rushing on 12 carries and he scored the Eagles first touchdown on a 54-yard run in the first quarter.
Lloyd Avant scored two rushing touchdowns for the Bulldogs (14-2).
DeSoto (16-0), which won back-to-back state football titles, held a commanding 46-7 lead at the half.
