DJ Lagway, one of the nation's top high school football players, reaffirmed his commitment to head coach Billy Napier and signed with the Florida Gators on the first day of the early signing period Wednesday afternoon.

In the 6-foot-2, 225-pound Lagway, Willis is getting the top-rated QB prospect in the country who is coming off of perhaps the nation's best high school football season this fall.

Lagway maintained plans to sign with Florida to multiple outlets Wednesday before putting pen to paper at a signing day ceremony at Willis High School, seated at a table adorned with Florida colors and the Gators logo, though 247 Sports reported Lagway was still communicating with USC staff, among other schools, on Wednesday.

He led Willis to unprecedented success - an undefeated 6A District 13 title and a run that reached the 6A Division II regional semifinals, where it lost to eventual state champion DeSoto, the top-ranked team in Texas and No. 2 team in the country.

Lagway completed 72.1 percent of his classes and threw for 4,604 yards and 58 touchdown passes opposite two interceptions, and the big-bodied signal-caller added 957 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns on the ground.

The Wildkats posted six consecutive losing seasons before Lagway led a 5-5 campaign in 2022. This fall, his high school swan song, the Wildkats went 12-1.

Lagway broke the UIL 6A all-time single season passing touchdown record along the way, and was honored for the achievement with a trophy during the ceremony.

He's the No. 2 rated QB and No. 4 overall prospect in the country, and the top-rated prospect in Texas, per 247 Sports, and the only 5-star and the lone QB in the Gators' 2024 class, which is rated No. 13 in the country.

The ceremony was streamed live by Dave Campbell's Texas Football. Watch the replay:
