Chris Ross, Texas high school football coach, hired as Stephen F. Austin offensive coordinator: report
Accomplished Lovejoy High School football coach Chris Ross is reportedly returning to the college ranks.
Ross has been hired as the offensive coordinator at Stephen F. Austin, Cory Hogue of Dave Campbell's Texas Football reported through unnamed sources on Tuesday.
Lovejoy went 12-2 in 2023, swept to a 7-0 Class 5A District 7 Region II title and reached the regional finals, where it lost to South Oak Cliff, 42-0.
Ross returns to the college ranks after four seasons at Lovejoy, in which the program went 45-9.
He was the director of football program development at Boise State under coach Brian Harsin for three seasons (2016-20) before taking the job at Lovejoy, where he was also an administrator.
He's been a high school coach for nearly three decades, with stints at Red Oak, Prosper, Leander, Cedar Park and Wichita Falls.
Ross joins the staff of Coby Carthel, who has coached for six seasons at SFA. The Lumberjacks won a Wester Athletic Conference title in 2022 and went 3-8 in 2023, including a winless (0-6) conference slate.
This is a developing story.
