Top 25 Texas high school girls basketball rankings (1/3/2024)
The 2023-24 Texas high school girls basketball season is well underway and SBLive is unveiling its first look at the 25 best teams in the state, spanning the UIL, TAPPS, SPC and the TCAL.
The days that followed Christmas were full of basketball tournaments throughout the state and even some out-of-state events welcomed Texans.

1. Timberview (Mansfield, Tex.) (24-1, 7-0)
The Wolves are ranked No. 11 nationally by SBLive/SI and have won 21 in a row. The team won Mansfield Spring Creek Barbeque Invitational Tournament on Saturday with a win over South Grand Prairie, 61-56. Brooklyn Terry scored 17 points and was named the tourney MVP.
2. Clark (San Antonio, Tex.) (20-1, 6-0)
The only loss for the Cougars came against No. 1 Mansfield Timberview on Nov. 18. Clark is the No. 1 team in the Class 6A coaches poll and No. 12 in the SBLive national rankings.
3. Duncanville (Duncanville, Tex.) (18-3, 3-0)
First-year coach Neiman Ford has the Pantherettes where they often are — among the tops in the country, checking in at No. 14 in the SBLive/SI national rankings. Duncanville won the Sandra Meadows Classic for the fourth straight year, topping Powder Springs (Ga.) McEachern, 61-22, on Saturday.
4. DeSoto (DeSoto, Tex.) (11-5, 7-0)
At the POA Holiday Classic in Portland, Oregon, the Lady Eagles went 2-1 and the only loss came on Thursday against Archbishop Mitty from San Jose, the No. 4 in SBLive/SI Power 25 rankings. Coastal Carolina signee Dawson Jemerson and Amari Byles made the all-tournament team.
5. South Grand Prairie (Grand Prairie, Tex.) (13-3, 4-0)
No. 8 in the Class 6A coaches poll, the Warriors lost to No. 1 Mansfield Timberview this past weekend. South Grand Prairie has been playing without South Carolina signee Adhel Tac, who is out for the year with a knee injury.
6. Liberty (Frisco, Tex.) (17-7, 4-0)
The Redhawks lost to Conway, Ark., in the semifinals of the Sandra Meadows Classic and then got af forfeit in the third-place game. Before that, the defending UIL 5A champions beat Humble Summer Creek, 65-54, behind 20 points from Jacy Abii.
7. Summer Creek (Humble, Tex.) (19-3, 2-1)
The Bulldogs took sixth place at the Duncanville Sandra Meadows Classic this past weekend. Janiya Murphy made the all-tournament team and tallied 15 points in a win against Southlake Carroll.
8. Lewisville Hebron (Carrollton, Tex.) (21-2, 4-0)
Ranked No. 2 in Class 6A, the Hawks won the Silver bracket at the Sandra Meadows Classic in Duncanville. West Virginia signee Jordan Thomas had 21 in the semifinals and 13 in the finals against Waco La Vega.
9. Boswell (Fort Worth, Tex.) (23-2)
At the M.T. Rice Tournament in Waco this past weekend, the Pioneers won the title and ran their winning streak to 15 in a row. Camile Williams had 27 in a 66-42 win over Waco Midway in the finals.
10. Fort Bend Austin (Sugar Land, Tex.) (21-1, 6-0)
Ranked No. 7 in the Class 6A, the Bulldogs have already secured a third straight 20-win season. The Bulldogs won the Fort Bend ISD Christmas Showcase this past weekend. Saint Louis signee Shun’teria Anumele had 21 in a 59-51 win over Beaumont West Brook.
11. Liberty Hill (Liberty Hill, Tex.) (24-0, 3-0)
The No. 6-ranked team in Class 5A hasn’t lost this season and just wrapped up its third tournament title of the year. The most recent title was the Lake Travis Holiday Tournament, beating Deer Park, Austin Bowie, Montgomery Lake Creek and Winnsboro.
12. Amarillo (Amarillo, Tex.) (22-4, 0-0)
Three of the four losses have come against Mansfield Timberview, Boswell and Summer Creek. The Sandies are No. 3 in Class 5A and took fifth place at the Mansfield Spring Creek Barbeque Invitational this past weekend. Tatum Bell made the all-tournament team.
13. Glenn (Leander, Tex.) (21-1, 3-0)
The Grizzlies ran their win streak to 15 in a row, including four in a row at the Glenn Holiday Tournament this past weekend. The only loss came against Little Elm on Nov. 17.
14. Argyle (Argyle, Tex.) (21-3, 4-0)
The Lady Eagles went 3-1 during the trip to San Diego for the Gold Crown Holiday Tournament, taking third place in the event. Coach Chance Westmoreland earned his 400th career win against Sunrise Mountain (Nev.) in the third-place game.
15. Springs (Cypress, Tex.) (17-2, 4-0)
The Panthers’ 15-game winning streak included a 4-0 mark at the Fort Bend ISD Christmas Showcase. Ayla McDowell’s 19.6 points per game is best but 2 other players average at last 10 points per game for Cypress Springs.
16. Glen Rose (Glen Rose, Tex.) (21-2, 0-0)
The Tigers headed to Orlando for a post-Christmas tournament and went 4-0 at the KSA Basketball Holiday Tournament. Aimee Flippen was the Orange Division MVP for the No. 1-ranked team in Class 4A — winners of 14 in a row.
17. L.D. Bell (Hurst, Tex.) (21-1, 4-0)
The Blue Raiders have been idle since Dec. 19, but took a 10-game winning streak into the break. In its most recent game, three players had 10 or more points in the win for L.D. Bell.
18. Boerne (Boerne, Tex.) (20-3, 1-1)
The Greyhounds went 4-0 at the Boerne ISD Girls Holiday Tournament. During the event, Averi Aaron scored her 2,000th career point, while Abby Smith tallied her 1,000th career point on Dec. 27.
19. Fulshear (Fulshear, Tex.) (16-4, 3-0)
Ruke Ogbevire is leading the Chargers in scoring with 19.2 points per game and and recently scored her 1,000th point in the Fort Bend ISD Christmas Showcase this past weekend. The Chargers are ranked No. 7 in Class 5A.
20. Monterey (Lubbock, Tex.) (20-5, 3-0)
The west Texas school has arguably the best scoring threat in the state in Aaliyah Chavez. The junior is averaging 38 points per game and add in sophomore Ambrosia Cole’s 17.6 points per game, the Plainsmen have been tough to outscore.
21. West Brook (Beaumont, Tex.) (21-4, 3-0)
Two of the team’s four losses came this past weekend at the Fort Bend ISD Christmas Showcase, with losses to Cypress Springs (No. 16) and Fort Bend Austin (No. 10).
22. Levelland (Levelland, Tex.) (22-2, 0-0)
The two losses this year for the Loboettes — No. 5 in Class 4A — have been by a combined 14 points. A loss to Clarendon in the Littlefield Tournament semifinals snapped a 17-game winning streak.
23. Sunnyvale (Sunnyvale, Tex.) (21-2, 4-0)
After a rare loss, the Lady Raiders beat Class 2A No. 2-ranked Nocona in the third-place game at the Championship Basketball Tournament. Alli McAda tallied a game 21 in the victory for the No. 6-ranked team in Class 4A.
24. Brennan (San Antonio, Tex.) (17-3, 6-0)
The Bears are up to No. 10 in the Class 6A rankings and have won six in a row. Brennan uses a balanced attack on offense with three players scoring between 11 and 12 points. Mahogany Pierce leads the way with 12.6 points per game.
25. Antonian Prep (San Antonio, Tex.) (20-7, 0-0)
The Lady Apaches, No. 1 in the TAPPS 6A/SPC 4A rankings, are being led in scoring by freshman Kyzarriah Fox. The guard had scored 10 or more in 25 of the 27 games and also averaged 8.3 rebounds per game.
