Top 26 Texas high school girls basketball players in 2023-24
The Texas high school girls basketball season is well underway, and the Lone Star State has once again proved itself as one of the nation's prep girls hoops hotbeds.
From the top-rated junior in the country, Lubbock Monterey's Aaliyah Chavez, to the DeSoto core headlined by two of the top 20 sophomores in the country, SBLive took a look at the top players across the state.

Jacy Abii
School: Frisco Liberty
Measurables: 6-foot-1
Class: 2026
The four-star recruit is ranked No. 9 nationally in the class of 2026 by HoopGurlz. She was Dallas Morning News All-Area Newcomer of the Year last year, picking up District 10-5A honors by scoring 15 points per game, while adding 6.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.1 steals per game for the UIL Class 5A champions.
Aniah Alexis
School: Cypress Lakes
Measurables: 6-1
Class: 2024
The guard averaged 17.7 points, 11 rebounds and 4.5 assists for the Spartans last season. She’s been her team’s offensive player of the year and MVP in back-to-back years. She is one of many on this list who had family ties to college basketball as her mother, Mykala Alewine played at Lousiana-Monroe. Alexis will stay in the Houston area for college, signing with Rice in November.
Shun’teria Anumele
School: Fort Bend Austin
Measurables: 5-9
Class: 2024
The Saint Louis signee averaged 25 points, 6 assists and 3 steals per game last season. She had 20 or more points in 18 games last year for the Bulldogs and had a season-high 41. She was the District 25-4A MVP last year for Royal before transferring to the Sugar Land school this year.
Amari Byles
School: DeSoto
Measurables: 6-2
Class: 2026
A four-star guard, she is ranked No. 16 in the country among sophomores. She helped the Eagles reach the Class 6A finals last year and averaged 16 points, 11 rebounds and 3 blocks per game. She’s uncommitted and picked up offers from Florida, North Carolina and Tennessee in early November. Took unofficial visits to Notre Dame, UCLA and USC.
Justice Carlton
School: Katy Seven Lakes
Measurables: 6-2
Class: 2024
She’s the top-ranked recruit in the 2024 class in Texas and No. 7 in the country on the HoopGurlz rankings. The forward averaged 22.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 assists and 2 blocks per game last year. Her mom, Kacy, played at Baylor and later in the WNBA but Justice will not be following in those footsteps for college. She signed with Texas in November.
Aaliyah Chavez
School: Lubbock Monterey
Measurables: 5-9
Class: 2025
She is the top-ranked player in the country among 2025 graduates. Chavez became her school’s all-time leading scorer last season and already has more than 1,700 points. She had averaged 27.7 points, 7.5 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 2.7 steals per game heading into her third season of high school ball. She released her top 10 list on Oct. 1, which featured in-state schools Texas Tech and Texas.
Madelyne Davis
School: Dallas Ursuline Academy
Measurables: 5-11
Class: 2024
One of five returning Class 6A TAPPS all-state players last year, she averaged more than 13 points per game in each of her first three seasons starting for the Bears. The point guard/shooting guard averaged 3.9 assists, 2.5 steals and 4.7 rebounds per game last year. She signed to play at Houston Christian.
Rieyan DeSouze
School: DeSoto
Measurables: 5-7
Class: 2026
The four-star point guard was one of four starters last year for the Eagles who were freshmen, helping the team return to the 6A finals for the third straight year. DeSouze was given a USA Basketball 16U tryout this summer. Holds nearly 20 offers but is uncommitted.
Bella Flemings
School: San Antonio Brennan
Measurables: 6-0
Class: 2026
As a freshman, she averaged 15.4 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game for the Bears. She was part of the Adidas EuroCamp tour in Italy in June. Has picked up an offer from North Carolina and went on an unofficial visit to Texas A&M.
Rian Forestier
School: San Antonio Brandeis
Measurables: 5-11
Class: 2024
The guard has started since her freshman year and has averaged 10 points or more each season. She is coming off a scoring 24.8 points per game, while adding 12.5 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 3.8 blocks and 6.2 steals per game for the Broncos. Forestier signed with USC, following in the footsteps of her mom, Denise, who played at Texas and later UTSA.
Aniya Foy
School: Katy Cinco Ranch
Measurables: 5-11
Class: 2025
She’s ranked No. 42 in the country on HoopGurlz’s 2025 rankings and is third in the state. She averaged 18.5 points per game last year, after tallying 16.4 as a freshman. She has already scored more than 1,000 points in high school. TCU, Baylor, Arizona, Auburn, SMU, Texas and Rice are among the schools recruiting her.
Timya Grice
School: Katy Taylor
Measurables: 6-5
Class: 2024
A newcomer to Texas, she comes from Mauldin, South Carolina. She started two of three years there and scored nearly 10 points per game with adding 6 rebounds per game. She had 3.2 blocks per game last year. She signed with future Big 12 school Arizona State in November.
Chloe Mann
School: Duncanville
Measurables: 5-8
Class: 2024
Big 12 school Cincinnati landed the point guard, who had more than a dozen offers. She averaged 11 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds and 2 steals per game for the nationally-ranked Pantherettes. It was her first year at the school after being a two-time all-district and all-region pick at Fort Worth Boswell her first two years of high school.
Kalysta ‘Bird’ Martin
School: San Antonio Providence
Measurables: 6-1
Class: 2024
She can play either guard or forward and has been a three-time TAPPS all-state pick, earning All-American honors from Adidas the past two seasons. Last year, the Texas Tech signee averaged 24.7 points, 14.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 4.2 blocks per game. She had more than 1,600 points and 1,000 rebounds going into her final season.
Ayla McDowell
School: Cypress Springs
Measurables: 6-2
Class: 2025
She averaged nearly a double-double last year for the Panthers, scoring 18 points per game with 9 rebounds per game. The wing has already eclipsed the 1,000-point mark and helped her team reach the regional semifinals for the first time in school history. Houston and Texas are among the programs that have expressed interest in the uncommitted prospect.
Londyn Oliphant
School: Plano Prestonwood Christian Academy
Measurables: 5-6
Class: 2024
She averaged 8 points per game last year at Sachse but transferred this year to Prestonwood. The point guard is called a ‘scoring point guard’ by Missouri coach Robin Pingeton. She signed with the SEC school in November.
Me’Arah O’Neal
School: Bellaire Episcopal
Measurables: 6-4
Class: 2024
The No. 33-ranked player in the senior class, she helped her team to a runner-up finish in the Southwest Preparatory Conference title. She averaged 7.8 points and 5.4 rebounds per game for CyFair Elite this summer on the AAU circuit. She signed with Florida in November, bypassing a chance to play at LSU where her dad did in the late 1990s. Her father is current NBA broadcaster and hall of famer Shaquille O’Neal.
Taliyah Parker
School: South Grand Prairie
Measurables: 6-1
Class: 2024
The guard is a four-star recruit and ranked in the top 60 in the country according to HoopGurlz’s rankings. She missed most of her first year at South Grand Prairie due to a wrist injury after transferring from Putnam City West in Oklahoma. She was ranked No. 6 in the junior class at the time of her transfer. Parker signed with Texas A&M in November.
Zachara Perkins
School: Humble Summer Creek
Measurables: 6-3
Class: 2024
She’s another player on this list who has the DNA to play basketball at the next level. Her mother, DeMya Walker played at Virginia before a 14-year career in the WNBA. Her dad, Ben, played at Providence and McNeese State. Zachara will take her talents to the Big Ten after signing with Rutgers. She averaged 18.6 points, 9.8 rebounds and 3.1 blocks per game last year, earning all-region and all-state honors.
Kamora Pruitt
School: DeSoto
Measurables: 6-2
Class: 2026
Another sophomore on the list from DeSoto, she was part of the Class 6A UIL runners-up last year. She was one of four players on her team to be invited to the USA Basketball 16U tryouts this summer. She had 23 offers when August started and added more to that. In-state wise, Baylor, Texas A&M, SMU, Texas Tech, TCU and Houston have all offered the No. 20-ranked sophomore in the country.
Arianna Roberson
School: San Antonio Clark
Measurables: 6-4
Class: 2024
The five-star recruit is the 19th nationally ranked player in ESPN’s HoopGurlz rankings. She averaged 24 points and 15 rebounds per game last year, guiding her squad to the UIL Class 6A finals. Her dad, John, played at New Mexico State, while her older brother, Andre, played in the NBA from 2013 to 2021.
Leonna "La" Sneed
School: San Antonio Wagner
Measurables: 5-6
Class: 2025
The point guard surpassed the 1,000-point mark last January and led her team in scoring with 18 points per game. She also led in rebounds (6.7), assists (5.6), steals (4.7), shooting percentage (46%) and free-throw percentage (89%). The No. 27-ranked recruit nationally in 2025 has more than a dozen offers from Big 12, SEC and ACC schools.
Adhel Tac
School: South Grand Prairie
Measurables: 6-5
Class: 2024
A four-star recruit, she will join a powerhouse program in South Carolina. The No. 26-ranked player in the country averaged 14.1 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game as a sophomore — but she missed most of last year with a broken foot.
Jordan Thomas
School: Lewisville Hebron
Measurables: 6-3
Class: 2024
Thomas averaged a double-double last year for the Hawks, scoring 12.2 points and grabbing 8.4 rebounds per game. The post player already had surpassed 1,000 points in her career and entered this year 196 away from reaching 1,000 career rebounds. She signed with West Virginia, now guided by former Stephen F. Austin coach Mark Kellogg.
Ma'Riya Vincent
School: Cypress Springs
Measurables: 6-0
Class: 2024
A transfer from DeSoto, she averaged 15 points, 10 rebounds and 5 steals per game during the first three seasons at the Dallas-area school, including winning two Class 6A titles. She earned all-state honors and was a Naismith High School Basketball Player of the Year nominee last year.
Niyah Waters
School: Pflugerville Hendrickson
Measurables: 5-9
Class: 2025
A returning all-state player last year, she was the District 23-5A offensive MVP. The guard averaged 13.4 points, 2.6 assists and 6.7 steals per game last season for the Hawks. She has offers from Wichita State, Northwestern State, Nicholls State, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Lamar and UTSA.
