Stony Point stuns Brennan on game-winning 3 in Texas high school basketball playoffs

Devaugh Hueitt's 3 with one second left to lift Stony Point past Brennan in the UIL Class 6A regional semifinals

On the first day of March, let the Texas high school basketball madness begin.

Stony Point, ranked No. 3 in Texas and No. 21 in the SBLive/Sports Illustrated Power 25 national rankings, advanced to the UIL Class 6A regional finals Friday night with a game-winning 3 as time expired to beat Brennan, 69-68.

After holding a comfortable lead for most of the game, Stony Point (36-1) found itself down by one point with less than four seconds to go. That's when Devaughn Hueitt stepped up and hit a shot he'll likely never forget.

Uzziah Buntyn tossed a cross-court inbound pass to the junior Hueitt, who drained a three with one second left to put Stony Point ahead 69-68. The clock hit zeros a second later, sending Stony Point one step closer to a state championship.

Stony Point plays O'Connor in the UIL Class 6A Region 4 finals on Saturday. The winner advances to the state tournament next weekend in San Antonio.
