Washington girls basketball player spotlight: Cassidy Gardner, Prairie High School
Cassidy Gardner is having an outstanding senior season for the Prairie High School girls basketball team. Gardner, who will play at Portland State next season, helped lead the Falcons to the 3A Greater St. Helens League championship and was named the league's co-player of the year along with teammate Brooke Walling.
We recently caught up with Gardner to ask her seven questions:
What are your goals for this season?
Team goal: Win a state championship.
Individual goal: To do whatever it takes to help my team win.
How would you describe your coach (Hala Corral)?
She pushes me and the rest of the girls to be the best we can be.
Who is your favorite player?
Maya Moore.
Who is your toughest matchup this season?
I would say our toughest matchup so far this season was Archbishop Mitty. They are a very good and skilled team, along with them having the #1 player in the country.
What is your favorite gym in the state to play in?
Prairie High School and the Tacoma Dome.
What are your aspirations as a player?
To continue improving everyday while helping my team to the best of my ability.
Where will you play next year?
Portland State.
