Congratulations to Steilacoom High School volleyball player Saisha Morales for being voted our Washington Federal Athlete of the Week!

Morales, a senior libero, led Steilacoom to three wins last week. In a three-set win over Bellarmine she had 20 digs, 2 aces and a 2.56 passing percentage. In a three-set win over Clover Park she had 14 digs, 5 aces and a 2.8 passing percentage. In a five-set win over North Kitsap she had 34 digs, 2 aces and a 2.78 passing percentage.

Morales received 24% of the vote, beating out Lynden RB Steven DiLorenzo who finished with 22%. Lake Stevens RB Dallas Landeros finished third and Chiawana RB Gabe Schliz came in fourth.

Here are the other athletes who were nominated for Sept. 16-22:

Dallas Landeros, Lake Stevens RB: Landeros, a senior, rushed for 218 yards and four TDs on 25 carries and caught four passes for 67 yards and a TD in the Vikings' 73-28 win over Monroe.

Gabe Schliz, Chiawana RB: Schliz rushed for 129 yards and four touchdowns on just 15 carries in Chiawana's win over Walla Walla.

Henry Mercado, Kamiakin QB: Mercado passed for 415 yards and six touchdowns to lead Kamiakin to a MCC victory over Hanford.

Steven DiLorenzo, Lynden RB: DiLorenzo, a senior, broke the school's single-game rushing record with 320 yards on 25 carries in their win over Steilacoom. He also scored three touchdowns.

Kannon Katzer, Mt. Spokane RB: Katzer set a single-game school record with 355 rushing yards on 15 carries in the Wildcats' win over Sandpoint.

Gee Scott Jr., Eastside Catholic WR: Scott Jr. had 9 catches for 209 yards and 2 TDs in the Crusaders win over Pinnacle (Arizona).

Jacques Badoloto-Birdsell, Camas RB: Badoloto-Birdsell scored four touchdowns — including three in the first quarter — and rushed for 106 yards on just 10 carries as the Papermakers beat West Valley 45-14.

AJ Dixson, Prairie QB: Dixson had 362 passing yards, 5 passing touchdowns and 2 rushing touchdowns to lead Prairie to a 56-14 victory over Black Hills.

Payton Thomas, Kentridge RB: Thomas. a senior, had 210 yards rushing and 4 touchdowns in the Chargers' 69-14 win over Kent-Meridian.

Jaiden Tapec, Puyallup LB: Tapec had five solo tackles, 11 assists, 2 sacks and a fumble recovery in the Vikings' 29-12 win over Sumner.

Izayah Boss, North Creek RB: Boss had 217 yards rushing and three TDs on 12 carries in North Creek's 63-28 win over Burlington-Edison.

James Gardner, Lake Washington RB: Gardner rushed for 227 yards rushing on 24 carries and added two catches for 15 yards in Lake Washington's 37-35 loss to Redmond. He scored three TDs, including a 77-yard run.

Jonas Price, Eisenhower cross country: Price set a 5K course record with a time of 14:50 at the Fort Steilacoom Invite.

Isaac Perez, Toppenish QB: Perez was 26-for-35 for 325 yards and 4 TDs and added 2 more touchdowns on the ground. He also led the game-tying drive with 2:20 left in the game and scored the game-winning TD in OT as Toppenish beat East Valley 41-35.

Hayden Baker, Forks RB: Baker ran the ball 40 times for 344 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Spartans to a 46-20 victory over Port Townsend.

Parker Johnson, Cascade Christian QB: Johnson threw for 454 yards and rushed for another 108 against White River. He had 5 total TDs (2 passing and 3 rushing). He also had an interception playing safety on defense.
