Last month she was a high school senior. Now, she's a power-five college basketball player.

In a video posted to social media Tuesday, Oregon State's women's basketball team show now-Chiawana grad Talia Von Oelhoffen joining the Beavers to a cadence of cheers from her new teammates after passing university health protocols. She's immediately eligible to play.

Von Oelhoffen is a 5-star guard and was the top-rated girls basketball prospect in Washington in the class of 2021 before deciding to graduate in December and enroll early at Oregon State due to the uncertainty around a high school basketball season in Washington. The NCAA has granted an additional year of eligibility to Division I winter sports athletes, so if she plays, it won't burn a year of eligibility.

She'll join a team that is navigating its own pandemic speed bumps. OSU's home game Friday with Washington was postponed due to an outbreak among UW's team. The Beavers (3-4, 1-3 Pac 12) have played once in the last month and have had seven games postponed.

She's the second high-major basketball prospect in the Pacific Northwest to graduate and enroll early, joining former Clackamas (Ore.) standout Ben Gregg, who graduated early and has made appearances in five games already for No. 1 Gonzaga.

On Tuesday night, the WIAA set a schedule that moves the start of the 2020-2021 Washington high school basketball season to April 26. Because of basketball's high-risk designation, there is still no blueprint from the state department of health for its return.
