Puyallup's R-Jay Barsh said every new job he's been hired for in college basketball takes him back to the same place: Running the summer league at Tacoma Community College.

Now, he will be part of one of the most consistent NCAA Division I programs in the country at Gonzaga University.

Barsh, 40, was hired last month as longtime coach Mark Few's newest assistant, replacing Roger Powell Jr., who took the head job at Valparaiso.

It's the next stop in Barsh's whirlwind journey, which has seen him coach at TCC (Juco), University of Puget Sound (D3), Southeastern University (NAIA), Boise State, Florida State and now the Zags (D1).
