Cameron Elisara has stepped down as the head football coach at Skyline High School (Sammamish, Washington) to return to the college ranks.

The former University of Washington two-sport athlete will rejoin his alma mater's football team as the Director of Player Development, he announced in a statement posted to Instagram Wednesday afternoon.

"I am sad that I will no longer be as involved as I have been but am extremely excited for my new opportunity," Elisara said.

Under Elisara, the Spartans went 14-11 in two seasons, capped by a 4A KingCo championship-winning 8-3 season in 2022-23 that ended in the WIAA Class 4A state quarterfinals.

Elisara joined former Skyline coach Mat Taylor's staff in 2015 and took over for Taylor when he stepped down in 2020 after 12 seasons. Taylor led Skyline to four WIAA Class 4A state championships from 2008-12.

Elisara has high school connections in more than one part of the state. He graduated from Ferris (Spokane, Washington) in 2006, where he was one of the country's best high school shot-put throwers and an all-state football player.

He threw shot put at UW, becoming the program's best by his senior year, and was also a starting defensive tackle for the Huskies.
