Camas' Addison Harris hooks new basketball home - Montana State University
Somewhere between watching an intense team basketball workout and taking in a three-mile hike to a waterfall, Camas' to-be-senior Addison Harris got to thinking about her future.
Specifically, could Montana State University be the next-stop university she had been looking for?
Well, the answer came down Tuesday - a big affirmative.
The 6-foot-1 all-state forward gave the Bobcats a verbal pledge to join the program as part of the 2024 recruiting class.
"The first time she came back (from Montana State), she said of all the schools, it was the most like Camas," Papermakers girls coach Scott Thompson said. "That was a good selling point."
Harris, the reigning co-most valuable player of the 4A GSHL (17.2 points, 10.5 rebounds per game in 2022-23), is an intriguing prospect who started to see a bump in bigger-college recruiting attention.
"And the end of the day, it's the people you are around that matters the most," Harris said. "This felt like a family."
One lifestyle fit for Harris about Bozeman, Montana - she loves outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, fishing, even hunting.
"I asked myself one question when I'd go to each of these visits - 'Is this somewhere I'd go if I didn't play basketball?'" Harris said. "I love Montana. I am a super outdoorsy person."
Added Thompson: "She loves basketball, but basketball doesn’t really define her. She is interested in a lot of things."
Like now exploring Bozeman, for example.
