Graham-Kapowsin offense shines to outlast Curtis, 3 takeaways
UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. - With the driver's seat in the 4A SPSL up for grabs, the top-10 battle of unbeatens between Graham-Kapowsin and Curtis did not disappoint.
In the end, it was the proven Eagles who upended the up-and-coming Vikings, 42-35.
The game featured just two punts – one by each team – with the offenses running wild for both squads.
Graham-Kapowsin quarterback Daveon Superales sealed the game late in the fourth quarter with a first-down run on third down.
Superales finished the game with 210 passing yards and three touchdowns, completing 20 of his 26 passes, with an additional 92 yards on the ground on 14 carries.
Curtis quarterback Rocco Koch completed 10 of 21 passes for 144 yards and three touchdowns – all to receiver Parker Mady. Koch added 165 yards and two touchdowns with his legs.
Here are three takeaways from the game:

GRAHAM-KAPOWSIN'S OFFENSE ELECTRIC ALL NIGHT
Superales and the Eagles' offense soared Friday night, carving up the Curtis defense to the tune of 477 yards and six touchdowns.
Sending out the punting unit just once in the game, Graham-Kapowsin seemed to move the ball with ease as the Eagles' playmakers continuously found the gaps in the Vikings' defense.
"This team is electric, this offense is electric, defense is physical, just an overall great team," Superales said.

JABEZ WOODS THE DEEBO SAMUEL OF HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL?
Just when it looked like Graham-Kapowsin receiver Jabez Woods was bottled up, he would break free for a couple more yards. And he did that nearly every time he touched the ball.
Graham-Kapowsin coach Jeff Logan said Woods' running back background shows whenever he gets the ball in his hands and gives the Eagles' offense another dimension in what they can do with him.
"We talked to him before the season about bringing him in and playing in a little bit of a Deebo Samuel hybrid role for us," Logan said. "He's leading the league in catches and he's probably got a handful of balls from beyond the line of scrimmage."

HIGH PRAISE FOR ROCCO KOCH
When it came to game planning for Koch, Logan said there wasn't really any sure fire method.
"It's kind of like you just pick stuff out of a hat sometimes – that's kind of what it feels like," Logan said.
Logan and his staff knew Koch was going to make his plays no matter what they drew up.
"He's probably the best high school football player in the state right now with what he's doing and what they're asking him to do," Logan said.
