Five Washington high school basketball products nominated for 2024 McDonald's All-American Game

List highlighted by reigning state girls basketball player of the year Katie Fiso, of Garfield, who has signed with Oregon

Among the 724 girls and boys from 43 different states nominated for the 2024 McDonald's All-American Game in Houston - five players hail from Washington:

BOYS

Jacob Cofie Eastside Catholic Taylor Balkom 2

* Jacob Cofie, Eastside Catholic: The 6-foot-9 Virginia signee is the top senior recruit in the state, ranking No. 61 by ESPN.com. The four-star forward was a second-team all-state player as a junior - and has led the Crusaders to the No. 1 ranking in Class 3A after a win over reigning state champion Garfield.

* Anthony Canales, Lynden: The 6-foot-4 wing player was an all-state first-team performer in the Class 2A ranks, leading the Lions to back-to-back state championship a year ago. Two-time state tournament MVP in Yakima. Averaging 22.5 points per game, and shooting 43 percent on 3-pointers

GIRLS

* Katie Fiso, Garfield: Reigning all-classification state girls player of the year from 2022-23 led Bulldogs to third consecutive Class 3A title last March - and signed with Oregon in November. Four-star point guard is highest-ranked senior recruit by ESPN.com (No. 32).

* Devin Coppinger, Nooksack Valley: All-classification all-state first-team guard was also Class 1A player of the year in 2022-23. Also on Naismith watch list, averaging 23.5 points, 8.5 assists and 3.6 steals per game, shooting 46.4 percent on 3-pointers. Signed with Washington, and is ranked No. 37 nationally by ESPN.com.

* Ava Smith, Union: One of top shooters in the Vancouver area, she has teamed up with standout sophomore Brooklynn Haywood to lead the Titans to 4A GSHL contention. Averages 14.0 point per game, and is looking at Brown, Furman, Akron and Cal State Northridge as college destinations.
