Here are the candidates for the WaFd Bank Washington High School Athlete of the Week for Feb. 26-March 2 as nominated by fans, readers and SBLive’s staff. Read through the nominees and cast your vote at the bottom of the page. Voting will conclude on Sunday at 11:59 p.m. and the winner will be announced Monday, March 11th. WASHINGTON NOMINEES

Yabi Aklog, Eastside Catholic boys basketball: Virginia signee Jacob Cofie demands a lot of attention, which opened a door for his big frontcourt mate in the 3A title game against Rainier Beach - game-high 28 points (9-14 FGs) and nine rebounds in win.

Landen Barger, Yelm powerlifting: Senior captured unlimited-weight title at the Olympia Powerlifting meet, totaling 1,395 pounds from three different lifts. He is undefeated in competition this winter.

Ashlan Bryant, Deer Park girls basketball: Lots of impact ninth graders playing in WIAA action - and this guard performed as well as any of them. Averaged 20.3 points per game in leading Stags to 1A title game, losing close decision to Nooksack Valley.

Anthony Canales, Lynden boys basketball: Saved arguably his best performance for last in Class 2A title game against Grandview - 29 points (10-20 FG), including five 3-pointers, and eight rebounds in win. Voted tournament MVP for third year in a row.

Aylah Cornwall, Gonzaga Prep girls basketball: Led No. 8 seeds to wins over Lake Stevens (18 points, 12 rebounds), Woodinville (14 points, 12 rebounds) and Davis (24 points, 10 rebounds) before scoring game-high 19 points in 4A championship loss to Camas.

Jalen Davis, Bremerton boys basketball: Nearly single-handedly took down defending 2A champion Lynden in state semifinals as a ninth grader - 33 points, including four 3-pointers. Selected to all-tournament team.

Grant Denison III, Wellpinit boys basketball: Carried Redskins to back-to-back 1B titles, scoring 26 points and seven rebounds in semifinal win over Neah Bay, and 18 points and nine rebounds in come-from-behind title-game win over Mossyrock.

Katie Fiso, Garfield girls basketball: What a fitting ending to a remarkable career for the reigning state MVP - game-high 29 points (12-22 FGs) and seven rebounds in four-peat 3A title-winning showing against Mead.

Esmeralda Galindo, Davis of Yakima girls basketball: Catalyst for three state-tournament wins (first ones in school history) and third-place finish, averaging 21.5 points per game, including team-high 29 points against Kamiakin.

Hayden Kaut, Napavine girls basketball: Sophomore guard tallied game's final five points, including game-winning 3-pointer with 14 seconds remaining in Napavine's 41-40 win over Okanogan to win 2B title - first from west-side program since 2007.

Seth Lustig, Colfax boys basketball: Busted loose in 2B semifinals against Napavine (22 points) and championship finals (19 points, 12-12 FTs) against Columbia of Burbank, both victories.
