Past Belmont Stakes winners
The 147th running of the Belmont Stakes will be held on June 6 at Belmont Park in Elmont, N.Y.
American Pharoah will be seeking to become the first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in 1978.
Last year, California Chrome won both the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes before coming in fourth at Belmont.
The Belmont Stakes race is 1.5 miles long and carries a $1.5 million purse. Secretariat holds the mile and a half stakes record with its 1973 run of 2:24 to win the Triple Crown.
