2017 Kentucky Derby field: Favorites and contenders

An early look at the possible Kentucky Derby field.

This year's Kentucky Derby field appears to be wide open in their year's 20-horse field.

The final lineup will be released on Wednesday when posts are assigned and entries are drawn.

The early favorites for the Kentucky Derby are McCracken, Gunnevera, Classic Empire and Always Dreaming, according to OddsShark. Classic Empire is coming off a win at the Arkansas Derby on April 15. Always Dreaming won the Grade 1 Florida Derby on April 1.
