2019 Kentucky Derby Odds: Game Winner Replaces Omaha Beach (Scratched) as Favorite
The 145th running of the Kentucky Derby, or "The Greatest Two Minutes In Sports," will take place on Saturday, May 4 from Churchill Downs, in Louisville, Kentucky.
Last year's winner Justify, with jockey Mike Smith and trainer Bob Baffert, started from No. 7 post and had odds of 3-1 at the time of the morning line odds. Justify went on to win the Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes to become the 13th horse to win the Triple Crown.
This year, Omaha Beach entered the week favored to win the Kentucky Derby at 4–1 odds. However, Churchill Downs announced on Wednesday that the colt was scratched from the race after being diagnosed with an entrapped epiglottis, an obstruction that compromises a horse's ability to breathe during exercise.
With Omaha Beach out of the race, Game Winner is now favored to win the race on Saturday, according to Westgate.
