Cleveland Indians pitcher Trevor Bauer made an unforgettable start Monday in Game 3 of the American League Championship Series, lasting only 21 pitches before blood dripped out of his right pinky. Days earlier, his custom-made drone had sliced open the finger in an accident that forced an emergency-room visit and his scheduled start to be pushed back.
Despite the drone, the Indians won a memorable game. Because of the hobby, Bauer has also produced quality video footage of his fleet of drones taking flight over the past year that was shot using a GoPro, set to music, and posted on his social media accounts.
Bauer flies the drone at Tropicana Field during warmups at one point and in different locations while on the road with the Indians. He also includes recordings of some amusing interactions with people when they encounter his drones.
“They always get a bad name,” Bauer said of drone users to a man he came across at a dog park. “Everyone’s afraid of them.”
Here are some of his videos:
Bauer: “Flying my Blackout super mini H quad named Rocky around at night trying to get my PIDs tuned in. These things are so much fun!…Its at a public park/church parking lot near my home in TX.”
Bauer: “Getting some night time racing practice in.”
Bauer: “I finally got a day of no rain up in Seattle. Got a little bit of night flying in with my new ImpulseRC 4″ Alien setup. Way more maneuverable than my 6″ BlackOut frame. Still trying to get used to it.”
Bauer: “A sneak peak at a typical “off” season training day through the lens of a GoPro Hero4 Session in time-lapse form.”
Bauer: “One of the most beautiful places I’ve gotten to fly around.”
Bauer: “A quick late night flight at my extended stay after a light snow up in Washington.”
Bauer: “Had an off day in tampa and took my Yuneec Q500 4k out for a spin. This is one of my favorite trips during the year because of this location. Very close to the hotel and always breathtaking.”
Bauer: “This was shot with my 4 inch alien frame from impulseRC.”
