Manchester City has launched a new app for Amazon Fire TV, a Premier League first.
The app allows City supports from all over the work to stream CityTV videos onto a TV via the Amazon Fire TV platform. The content offered includes behind-the-scenes tunnel access on match days, training sessions led by coach Pep Guardiola, player interviews and the 10-part series Global City.
“As consumers’ viewing habits change and audiences migrate to over-the-top streaming services from companies like Amazon, we want to be there,” Diego Gigliani, senior vice president for media and innovation at City Football, said in a statement Monday. “Amazon Fire TV is a growing platform with huge potential and we’re extremely excited to bring CityTV content to it.”
Manchester City’s new app follows other digital innovations that the Club has done including the launch of Facebook Instant Articles allows fans to quickly access the latest City stories on their news feed; an official Manchester City Apple News page; and an official sticker for iMessage, which allows iPhone users to embed Manchester City-themed images into conversations.
