Roger Clemens shook off some early struggles and gave the surging Yankees the lift they were looking for, leading them to a 9-3 victory over the Pirates in his long-awaited season debut on Saturday. The 44-year-old Rocket allowed three runs, five hits and two walks as he struck out seven in six solid innings for New York.

Melky Cabrera slides safely into third on a double steal as Jose Bautista is drawn off the bag trying to catch a high throw during the sixth inning Saturday at Yankee Stadium. New York won 9-3.

The Cubs' Felix Pie steals second ahead of the tag by the Brewers' Craig Counsell in the top of the ninth June 6 at Miller Park. Pie went 3-for-5, scoring three runs and knocking in three with a homer in the second inning.

A's starter Dan Haren pitched seven scoreless innings against the Giants while Oakland's former ace, Barry Zito, allowed three runs on nine hits in just four innings at AT&T Park on Saturday. The Athletics won 6-0.

A's shortstop Bobby Crosby dives for a ground ball during Sunday's game against the Giants. The Athletics won 2-0, sweeping the three-game Battle of the Bay series.

Tom Glavine had one of the worst outings of his career Sunday against the Tigers, giving up nine earned runs for just the second time, matching the career-high total he allowed eight years ago. The Mets lost 15-7.

The Mariners' Jamie Burke beats the tag by Padres catcher Josh Bard at PETCO Park on Sunday. Burke scored twice for Seattle in its 4-3 win, as the Mariners swept the three-game series.

Alfonso Soriano hit three solo home runs in his first three at-bats during the Cubs 9-1 win over the Braves at Turner Field on June 8. Soriano had only four homers in 190 at-bats through May.

The Indians' Jason Michaels reacts as he is called out by umpire Marvin Hudson in the 12th inning against the Reds on Sunday. Alex Gonzalez hit a run-scoring single in the bottom of the 12th to give Cincinnati a 1-0 win.

The Braves' Edgar Renteria smacks Cubs second baseman Mike Fontenot in the face while stealing second during the first inning Sunday at Turner Field. Renteria was retaliating to Cubs starter Ted Lilly hitting him with a pitch moments earlier, after which Lilly was ejected.

Mets right fielder Carlos Gomez dives to catch a fly ball hit by the Tigers' Ivan Rodriguez in the fourth inning June 8 at Comerica Park. The Mets won 3-0.
