Roger Clemens Through The Years

Roger Clemens won his third Cy Young Award in 1991 at age 29.

In 1993, Clemens suffered through the first losing season of his career, going 11-14 for the fifth-place Red Sox.

After a bitter breakup with the Red Sox, Clemens returned to dominance in 1997 with the Blue Jays, winning the first of back-to-back Cy Youngs.

Clemens' first season with the Yankees culminated in his beating the Braves in the 1999 World Series clincher.

Clemens went 17-9 in 2003, his final season with the Yankees.

After a brief retirement, the Rocket joined longtime friend Andy Pettitte by signing with his hometown Houston Astros.

Clemens was rejuvenated by his move to the National League, leading the Astros deep into the 2004 playoffs and claiming his seventh Cy Young Award.

Clemens took the mound for Game 1 of the World Series on Oct. 22, 2005, the Astros' first appearance in the Fall Classic. Houston went on to lose to the White Sox in four games.

Though still uncommitted to playing in 2006, Clemens showed up at spring training to pitch batting practice to his son Koby, a third baseman in the Astros organization. He ended up signing and making his first start on June 22. He finished with a 7-6 record and 2.30 ERA as the Astros narrowly missed the playoffs.

Clemens has firmly denied steroid use to everyone, including Congress. The Justice Department had been investigating the former superstar for perjury. Clemens was indicted for perjury in August, 2010.

On June 18, 2012, Clemens was acquitted of all charges in his lengthy perjury trial, just blocks from where he had been accused of lying to Congress about never having taken performance-enhancing drugs.

On Aug. 25, 2012, Roger Clemens was back on the mound at age 50, striking out hitters again. Pitching for the first time in five years, Clemens tossed 3 1/3 scoreless innings for the Sugar Land Skeeters of the independent Atlantic League.
