In the wake of the Monday passing of Democratic New Jersey Senator Frank Lautenberg, New Jersey governor Chris Christie will have to appoint someone to fill Lautenberg's vacated senate seat until a special election can be held to fill the seat, an election which might not happen until next year.
Tuesday, Philadelphia Inquirer staff writer Matt Katz floated a list of 21 potential Christie appointees, both Republicans and Democrats. Second to last on his list was this:
Al Leiter: The former Mets and Yankees pitcher is a Republican and Toms River native who has talked about running as a Republican in the past.
