Watch: Yasiel Puig, Jason Heyward provide the catches of the day
There was a Dodgers game tonight, which means Yasiel Puig was contractually obligated to do something ridiculous, be it throw a runner out at third from right field or hit an infield triple or score from second on a groundout (Hint: he actually has done two of these three things). In Los Angeles' 14-5 win over Toronto, Puig lived up to his end of the deal by robbing J.P. Arencibia of extra bases with a running, leaping catch that made him intimately familiar with Rogers Centre's right-field wall. Plus, he even got to unleash his what-must-surely-be-robotic right arm with a laser past first base on the throw back in.
He wasn't alone in brilliant catches, though. In New York, Jason Heyward went full-extension to take away a potential game-winning, extra-bases hit from the Mets' Justin Turner. That catch capped off a rally by the Braves that saw them break up a no-hitter, go ahead thanks to a passed ball, and ultimately win even though closer Craig Kimbrel turned in a rare rough outing. Also, he slid about 10 feet after the catch, which looks like a lot of fun.
You can check out the full video of Puig's catch here and Heyward's catch here. Judge for yourself which one is best, though the reaction from Kimbrel and the Braves' Reed Johnson on Heyward's catch suggests that they've already voted for J-Hey.
