Chad Qualls took over for the Marlins in the eighth inning of a 2-2 game against the Mets Tuesday night. The first batter he faced, Marlon Byrd, hit a triple, but Qualls struck out Ike Davis, got John Buck to ground to third, freezing Byrd, and after a walk and a visit by his pitching coach, struck out Omar Quintanilla on three pitches to strand Byrd and preserve the tie. That Houdini act deserved a fist pump, and Qualls obliged as he walked off the mound. Except he rolled over on his left ankle a bit as he did and, well just watch the gif:

Qualls, incidentally, is the same pitcher who fell off the mound after executing a routine pickoff throw with the Phillies on June 9 of last year (hat-tip to the Philadelphia Daily News' David Murphy). That time, Qualls' right foot was to blame as it seemingly hit some black ice on the mound on his follow-through:

I'll never hear the name "Qualls" the same again.
