The Toronto Blue Jays have had about as disastrous a season as you can imagine: Underperforming stars, injuries up and down the roster, a sub-.500 record that's featured month after month of listless, uninspiring play. But if there were one silver lining to the debacle, one thing that the Blue Jays could hang their hat on, one thing they could proudly claim, it was that no one on the team had accidentally hurt a teammate with a bad throw this season.

As you can see above, that's no longer the case.

Toronto centerfielder Colby Rasmus was the unfortunate recipient of a strike of a throw at Fenway Park, forcing him to leave the game before even taking an at-bat. Rasmus, who was jogging into position before the bottom of the first inning, got nailed in the head by a warmup throw from a Blue Jay who's probably really glad that the camera wasn't at a wider angle.

That knock to the noggin sent Rasmus to the ground, and manager John Gibbons ultimately elected to pull a woozy Rasmus from the game. There's been no word as of yet on Rasmus' condition, but we'll update when we get something definitive.

It's particularly bad timing for Rasmus, who just finished a month-long stay on the disabled list for a strained left abdominal muscle. It'd been a productive return, too, with Rasmus going 6-for-17 with four homers and six RBIs in five games since being activated off the DL.
