Longest-Tenured Managers in Baseball
Jim Leyland
Jim Leyland is stepping down as Tigers manager, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. Leyland, 68, reportedly told his players it was time for someone younger to step in and do the job at the end of the ALCS. The Tigers were eliminated by the Red Sox in Game 6 Saturday. Leyland won two pennants (2006 and 2012), three AL Central titles and made the playoffs four times with a record of 700-597 in his eight seasons in Detroit. Leyland had been one of the longest-tenured managers in Major League Baseball. Here are the rest still with their respective teams.
