Pro Baseball Figures Portrayed in Movies
Opening nationwide today (May 16), <italics>Million Dollar Arm</italics> stars notorious Cardinals fan Jon Hamm. The movie tells the mostly true story of "The Million Dollar Arm," a 2008 Indian reality show started by sports agent J.B. Bernstein (played by Hamm), that tried to find the person in India who could best throw a baseball. The winners, Rinku Singh (left) and Dinesh Patel, famously received a cash grand prize and then came to America, where they were trained at USC and eventually both signed minor league contracts with the Pirates. And for Singh, at least, the story is not over. He missed last season to injury, but has solid career minor league stats, despite being a little old for his leagues. One has to figure a lefty reliever with good peripherals has better than no chance at the majors. Here's a look at Major League Baseball's players, managers and owners portrayed on the big screen through the years. SI Now: Jon Hamm on "Million Dollar Arm"
