The two-time World Series champ agreed to become a player-coach for the Chicago Cubs' Triple-A affiliate. The team wants Ramirez to serve as a mentor for developing prospects and has no designs on bringing him to the major league club, Cubs president of baseball operations Theo Epstein said in a statement Sunday. Ramirez played for the Texas Rangers' Triple-A Round Rock Express in 2013, and last played in the majors in 2011 for the Tampa Bay Rays.
